What’s better than a Valentine’s Themed Wedding? A SURPRISE Valentine’s themed wedding. Surprise weddings are becoming more and more popular. What is a surprise wedding you might be asking yourself? Well, all your guest think they are coming to just a regular event most likely an engagement party to celebrate your love and next thing you know.. Surprise, you’re at our wedding! Chelsea and her husband Ryan threw an incredible surprise wedding, and to top it off it was Valentines themed (does it get any more romantic than that??). I’m so excited to share with you all how they pulled it off!

San Fransisco, California.
Crown Room & Penthouse, Fairmont Hotel
We pulled off a surprise wedding in the middle of our engagement party. The way we got everyone to show up, is we kept it local in San Francisco, and made it a black tie Valentine’s themed party. If you keep it local (during a time of year not many people are traveling) and up-the-anti with a theme/special attire, people show up. People just thought we wanted to throw an incredible event. When everyone showed up in their black tie outfits (and I had told all my girlfriends to wear red, so they wouldn’t clash in photos – which was my way of maintaining the surprise, but making sure they all looked like my bridesmaids), we mingled, had some drinks with everyone, and then proposed a toast. This happy hour was at a private residence. When we proposed our toast, we then announced the surprise and got married in the middle of the party. We also announced that we rented out the top of the Fairmont, and will be walking across the street for the reception. After the ceremony, we ushered everyone across the street. Upon arrival at the Fairmont people were welcomed with a formal reception, band etc.Only our immediate family and best friends knew about the surprise. They were able to give us toasts at the reception, and help with last minute planning and details. We had a wedding planner, and fully planned the wedding – only difference is that we just kept it all a surprise.
How unique is a surprise wedding? Chelsea and Ryan pulled it off perfectly and all of their guest had no idea, it truly was the greatest surprise! Just because it’s a surprise wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have it all and that’s exactly what Chelsea and Ryan did. They were able to have their guest show up in formal wear, capture stunning bridal photos, include bridesmaids, speeches, have a beautiful reception and dancing. Adding the surprise element definitely makes a wedding stand out! Keep scrolling for some more pictures of this insanely romantic wedding!
(This picture gives me all the feels. So. Romantic. This shot is incredible!)
