Let’s Talk Custom Wedding Invitations & How to Avoid Blank RSVP cards.
I have a lifesaving invite hack for you: Keep a corresponding guest list when doing your invitations.
Quite often while sending back an RSVP, people simply check-off their response, slip it back into the pre-labeled envelope and off it goes, right back to you…Nameless! Taking the following simple precaution and a couple of minutes will save you from much wasted time along with a confusing mix and match of anonymous response cards.
Let’s say invitation number 1 is addressed to “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” On their RSVP card, in the corner, write a small #1. Then wherever you keep your wedding files, whether it’s a notebook or word doc, write #1-Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Continue this for all the RSVP cards and make sure the invitation names and numbers match on the list. If you are a little picky like me and don’t like the look of a number on your beautiful invitations, buy a black light pen. These are invisible to the eye and you can write the names on the rsvp card and if it’s returned blank, you can just shine the light on card to see who the mystery guest is!
Both ways work, one just takes a little more effort and money because you do need to buy a special pen and potentially a light if the pen doesn’t come with the light (I would definitely test it out on your invitation paper to make sure it shows up clearly before sending it out). It may seem like a little more work, but this will save you a lot of time in the long run, preventing having to figure out who the missing people are from your RSVP list!
This RSVP hack will keep you organized and truly avoid any last minute scrambling finalizing your guest list and ease your way into the “daunting” process of creating your seating chart.
I’ve recently discovered a custom stationery company called Basic Invite that I am completely obsessed with. What I loved the most was that these are custom made wedding invitations. They have a wide variety of paper, fonts, and lettering detail (I am obsessed with the raised gold foil, it’s so unique and classy).
You can order as many samples as you want and see your completed invitation in its entirety before you make a full order to ensure complete satisfaction with your invitation suite. I ordered all the paper types and I can say they are all quality, but my favorite by far is the luxe velvet, it just feels so luxurious. Add in a much-appreciated spell check during checkout, and very affordable pricing, and Basic Invite proves to be the perfect pick for elegant and simple wedding invitations.
If you want to take convenience to another level, Basic Invite has the seal and send all in one wedding invitation. These folded invites give you a unique one of a kind look that comes pre-addressed with your guests’ addresses, so all you need to do is fold the card, add a stamp and drop it in the mail, no envelope required (And It really was that easy, how cool is that? Less paper is always a bonus in my book!!). As well as looking great these invites come with a built-in RSVP section and all your guests have to do is tear off their RSVP on the dotted line and drop it off in the mail, it’s the easiest system ever.
Another unique sample I ordered was the “clear invitations” I think this is a great option if you are doing acrylic table numbers, these invites give off that exact illusion.
After ordering my samples I can say with confidence that Basic Invite is definitely in my top recommendation for an online stationery. Here are a few more reasons why I love this company…
Almost Unlimited Colors
Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options. So, you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it – down to the littlest detail. This is what sets Basic apart from almost any other online stationery company and completely drew me to the company.
Like I previously mentioned this is my favorite thing about Basic Invite. They are one of the few websites that allows you the ability to order a printed sample of your actual invitation so you can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before you ever have to place your final order. Therefore, you will never be disappointed with your invitation because if there is something you don’t like you can make adjustments because you know exactly what you will be receiving! And you can play around with different fonts, and paper selections to create your perfect invitation!
Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes
Basic Invite is just as colorful with their envelopes as they are with their invitations. I love this so much because white can be a little bit basic and this gave me so many options I had to try a few colors. There were over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes and this truly will make your invitation stand out even before it is opened. Another
thing I loved about their envelopes is that they are peel and seal so the envelopes can be quickly and securely closed. Aka you don’t need to lick 200+ envelopes!
Over 800 Wedding Invitation Sets
Each of their wedding invitations is part of a set. You can find everything from save the dates to wedding invitations and enclosure cards, wedding menus, wedding programs and even matching thank you cards! It’s a one stop shop, and saves you a ton of time!
Free Address Collection Service
One thing that I think takes up the most time is addressing your envelopes and I love that Basic provides a free address collection service to request your addresses with just three simple steps. Share a link, collect addresses, and get FREE envelope printing. You can choose your font as well, and truly it dupes hiring a calligraphist to write your addresses. (Another money saving factor!!)
Free Wedding Websites
One thing I have yet to see on a stationery website is the option to create a wedding website. Again, everything with basic invites is completely customizable! This keeps a consistent theme for your wedding by having your website match your invitations and I love when things match perfectly. These wedding websites are mobile friendly (huge plus for me because I do almost everything from my phone) and super easy to use. You can instantly upload all your wedding details along with images and a map with directions which is super convenient for your guests. Choose from 180 custom colors and even choose a design to match your wedding invitation suite! I honestly love their wedding websites way more than the free wedding websites that come with the knot! Check out their demo’s here.
Overall it was just a great experience I love sampling new products to bring you future brides the best of the best without breaking the bank. If you are looking for a place to order your invitations, I would definitely check out basic invites! It gives the feel of handmade custom invitations with the simplicity of creating them from your own computer!
Another tip I highly recommend, is keeping an extra set of your full invitation suite for your photographer to capture detail shots with your invitations, styled with your ring and shoes! You work so hard to find and create your dream wedding invitations which usually sets the tone for your wedding day, so you should definitely make sure your photographer snaps some beautiful pictures of them!
